Allow a conversation
about the knowledge of the world

This is the mission of Hypothesis, shared by IS.net

The Hypothesis project is a new effort to implement an old idea: a web-wide conversation layer that works everywhere, with no need for implementation anywhere.

Our team creates open source software, promotes standards and fosters the community.

Using the annotation, we allow you to take notes at the prayer or critical level on top of news, blogs, scientific articles, books, terms of service, voting initiatives, legislation and more. Everything we build is guided by our principles: to be free, open, non-profit, neutral and durable, to name but a few.

Our efforts are based on the annotation standards for digital documents developed by the W3C Web Annotation Working Group. We partner extensively with developers, publishers, academic institutions, researchers and individuals to develop a platform for the next generation of web reading and writing applications.
